Some time ago CuttersCove Resort was identified as a ‘leaky’ building.
As we made a decision to repair our complex, we identified broad outcome objectives. To achieve these we were acutely aware that we needed to engage a suitable project manager.
We wanted a project manager with a proven track record of commitment, reliability and management; with the skills to do the job, to do it correctly and to have the ability to overcome any problems with cost efficient solutions; and with transparency in costing and management. Principally though, we wanted a project manager that could and would buy into the whole process, to work with us, alongside the construction contractors, as a team and attain our objectives.
We chose Independent Project Management Services Ltd.
As the remedial work on our complex started, and it was “opened up”, it became very obvious that there were additional significant problems. The scope of work increased and expanded dramatically. Although our criteria for choice were tested, IPMS has proved to be everything we sought and will achieve all of our objectives.

After the major investment in upgrading our apartment complex, CuttersCove, our Body Corporate wanted to instigate a planned and comprehensive property maintenance programme.
We wanted expert advice in establishing this programme. Because “prevention is better than cure” we wanted to be sure all of our maintenance procedures were complete and adhered to, and our compliance paperwork was in order, especially with the new legislation about to come into place. We wanted this expert advice to be totally independent of suppliers and trades to ensure the programme was unbiased and cost-efficient.
We have chosen IPMS.
All our assets, even small items like fire extinguishers, are bar-coded and logged into the system, so as soon as any maintenance is due, we are alerted. Not only that, the system also lists the best place to source service and parts, and even the names of paint colours used.
On a day-to-day basis, we have already saved time and money, and we are very confident that the system will deliver all of our objectives. Already the process has highlighted a number of inefficiencies that have been immediately corrected.
We cannot recommend IPMS highly enough: they know their stuff, they do what they say and they are easy to deal with.

"We employed Independent Project Management Services Limited to oversee the
building of our dream house as we were overseas for most of the year and not
around to keep an eye on contractors and make decisions. It is was a
godsend that we did as 4 days after employing them and 2 days before we were
due to leave the country our builders disappeared overnight to sunnier
climes and their company eventually went into liquidation and bankruptcy.
It was soon discovered that they had carried out substandard work and then
covered it up to get their payments through quickly.
IPMS arranged all quotations needed to redo work and oversaw that all works
required to finish the property were carried out in a professional manner
and to a high standard. They kept us updated on a regular basis (daily when
required) and helped us make decisions on fixtures and fittings by providing drawings and information as we went along, which made the whole process so
much easier. They regularly took photo's of the work to keep us involved
and to see the progress, which they put on their website. Their website was
easy to use and a great reference point for what was happening.
IPMS also sorted out the paperwork required with MasterBuild and because of
their professionalism and dedication we were awarded with the maximum payout
from MasterBuild which did help a lot with the extra costs we incurred.
Our only regret is that we did not have IPMS on board from the very
beginning of the project because then we would not have had to go through so
much heartache and stress!"

Independent Project Management was involved in the building of my new commercial premises for Body Mechanix Physio Health Clinic June-September 2006. I liaised directly with Wayne Pittams, who was the Project Manager for the new clinic. Wayne was pleasant to deal with and eased my concerns by dealing directly with sub contractors and in making strategic decisions.
Of note, a few months after completion of the building, we had some movement in the gib linings and Wayne was very supportive and constructive in dealing with remedial work required. This was finished to the expected standard.

It is out pleasure to record our appreciation of the excellent working relationship between our office and Wayne Pittams of Independent Project Management Services Limited (IPMS).
Our firm manages a number of commercial buildings on behalf of our clients. IPMS has undertaken various project management roles for the maintenance and upgrading of these properties. This involved obtaining council consents, preparing costings for building work, liaising with sub-contractors, meeting with property owners and overseeing the project as well as feasibility reports.
Throughout the planning processes and during the construction periods, all written and verbal communication and co-ordination with the tenants and out office was of a very high standard. This ensured that the projects proceeded smoothly, with as little inconvenience to tenants as possible.

In my capacity as a Quantity Surveyor and expert witness on the Cutters Cove Code Compliance Upgrade claim I have been dealing with Wayne Pittams of Independent Project Management Services since January 2010.
Independent Project Management Services was engaged by Cutters Cove Body Corporate to assist with the project management and preparation of evidence during the period May 2006 to October 2008.
The evidence files prepared by Wayne Pittams are of a very high standard and have been invaluable in allowing us to gain an understanding and appreciation of the original problems with the building, the design solutions and the physical on site remediation work. The records are detailed and the preparation thorough. Wayne has been very willing to assist in providing any additional information we required and does so promptly.
The work carried out by Independent Project Management Services will form an invaluable part of the evidence for the Cutters Cove claim and Wayne Pittams personal evidence will also form a key part of the claim.
From my knowledge of Independent Project Management Services, I would certainly recommend Wayne Pittams for a similar role.
