Before IPMS was brought on board, this project was running behind time and well over budget. IPMS was engaged to get the project back on track and delivered.
IPMS adopted a comprehensive value engineering approach to get this project back on track. The team started with a complete design and tender review, followed by a ‘wants versus needs’ analysis with the client. IPMS then sought alternative pricing, using the team’s relationships with local suppliers to supplement products like-for-like, getting better pricing for the more expensive items. IPMS engaged with two tenderers, working with them in a competitive environment to find where further savings could be achieved and adopting the best solution possible.
Altogether, IPMS’ comprehensive review resulted in a $200,000 saving on the original budget, enabling the school to move forward into the construction phase with confidence in their budget and the program deliverables and milestones.
